Pharmaceutical Companies?

I don't know much about the actual role of pharmaceutical companies.

I gather that a larger company owns them and then each company is like a sub division working with and developing medicine for sale around the world. They are controversial as they do want to earn money and many people believe they are responsible for many medicines not reaching where they should.

I hope that the future will bring about better trust and better companies and that we can all work together to make things better.
