As the snow is starting to melt, I thought I would ay homage to the beautiful white fluff and bring you some interesting snow facts.
- The chances of wo snowflakes being the same is practically zero.
- Almost every place in the United States has seen snowfall. Even most parts of southern Florida have seen a small amount.
- Snow is actually clear. It looks white because the ice crystals act like prisms, splitting the the sun light into the entire color spectrum. The human eye is unable to handle it and we see the snow as white.
- The tops of the clouds must be below 0 degrees Celsius, or 32 degrees Fahrenheit for it to snow.
- Large bodies of snow such as in the North and South Pole can reflect heat into space. This happens because the ice acts like a mirror, and the heat reflectsoff the ice and into space.
