Up to 4 miles, nearly

If you have been reading then you know that I have been obsessing over my running.

Yesterday was the day that I was supposed to finally up my run from 3 miles to 4 miles.

I got on the machine, set the distance and got the speed to around 7.5 minutes per mile.

Starting the run I felt great, at 1 mile I was good, 2 miles still good, then 3. I very sweaty and determined. I had also sped to about 6.9 minutes a mile, and was heading for a sub 29 minute time.

Then at approx 3.5 miles the machine just stopped! I was so annoyed. The timer was still ticking. I told a member of staff who really did not seem that bothered.

I did go onto another machine and run a 3/4 of a mile but it wasn't the same.

Maybe things are made to test us. I may not get a chance for another week and will be away from Tuesday until Saturday.

My running goal

homer from the simpsons, runningI have been speaking briefly about my journeys to the gym recently.

I used to run very regular, in facr almost every day I would get my gear on and coem rain or shine go and pound the streets for a good 40 minutes at least.

I have not been like that for a while. Firstly I have been traveling a lot last year and secondly Montreal winter is not the time to go running. The cold air would burn your lungs and I don't have the money to buy expensive running gear.

In the summer, whilst in Vermont, I did go to the gym on an almost regular basis and I felt my running legs coming back to me. Then I went on holiday for a few weeks, moved to Montreal and it went again.

Well yesterday I managed to get back to my respectable running time of the summer. I ran for 3 miles and it took 20:20 minutes, dead on!

I am aiming specifically to reach a sub 20 minutes time and then I will probably add an extra mile. Hopefully I will start with 28 minutes for 4 miles and see where I can take it.

Hopefully then I will look and see if there are any 5k road races coming up. I would really ike to get back to 10k running and maybe even back to half marathon, eventually.

Run, run as fast as you can

If you're interested in nutrition and weight loss, this low carb diet may be just what you're looking for to help get in shape!

I used to run as a hobby most days but sadly with all my traveling this year and then the cold Montreal winter it has gone by the wayside.

I do still try and get to he gym a few times a week and do a bit of running but nothing like I used to.

Running on a treadmill does not give you the same feeling. I am looking forward to the warmer weather so that I can put on my shoes, shirt and shorts and go for a light run. I know the first few times back out on the street will be hard and maybe not even that fun but still I know once I break past that it will be as good as ever.

Nutrition is also very important for getting into shape and I will be making sure that I keep a close eye on this. Watch this space for updates.
