Don't Drink And ........................

...............Carry your laptop in your back pack.

I just learned the hardway.

On Wednesday I got really drunk and hadn't eaten. A vaugue memory of me throwing my bag has resulted in this lovely display on my poor Macbook's screen.

Anew screen is arriving from ebay (approx $200) and I have found a repair guide on Ifixit.com. The Apple service people wanted almost $800 so I have to do this myself.

Wish me luck and i'll try and keep some blogging going until I get this problem ironed out.

Oh no! I hope you're able to figure out how to fix it yourself. $800 seems awfully steep for Apple to do it.

Oy vey! I

truly hope you figure it out. I use a 17" MacBook Pro. I think I remember seeing how to videos on the Mac forums. I'll see if I can find one.

Ok this is the first time for me using the @(commenter name) thing that is popular. I have realised recently that it's a great way to respond to everyone :)

@Elay - The screen should arrive tomorrow. I have my tools ready and am anticipating a smooth attempt but am not ruling out the fact that I may mess the whole thing up. Fingers crossed i'll be fine!

@Lynne - Apple are notorious for ridiculous repair prices and times. It's just not worth it unless your repair is under warranty.

@People in the Sun - That cat belongs to the landlord and is called Koko. He has 3 black cats that were left on his doorstep one day. They all have very strange and different personalities. Koko sits on my bed being a cute nuisance.

@Opal - The Ifix.com guides are great and very concise. I'd advise you go over there if you need any step by step instructions for fixing anything on your laptop. PS. what a cool bit of kit. I picked the small 13.3" because I was traveling and it fits very very nicely into my back pack, however I'm mildly regretting the ease and lightweightness carrying it around. If it was a pain in the neck to carry around maybe I would have thought about it in my inebriated state!

@Dawn - I laughed my head off the next day, what else can you do? Plus the broken screen looks ultra cool.

I'm currently typing this in the tiny portion of my screen that works and can't really comfortably use Google Reader so am getting behind on my reading, commenting and posting. Hopefully I will be back up to speed withe everything by Thurs!

I shall speak to you all soon I hope.
